Mickey Rourke Denies Launching GoFundMe for Back Rent, Blames Management

Hollywood legend Mickey Rourke has broken his silence following reports that a GoFundMe page was created to save him from eviction. The 72-year-old Oscar nominee posted an emotional video on Instagram, distancing himself from the fundraiser aimed at covering an alleged $60,000 in unpaid rent. “Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money, like charity. And that’s not me, ok? If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no f*cking charity,” Rourke stated firmly.

The actor, while admitting to financial struggles due to COVID-19 and the writers' strike, expressed deep embarrassment over the public plea for money. He urged fans: “Don’t give any money. And if you gave money, get it back.” Rourke claims he will be taking legal action to find out how the page was launched without his consent.

However, his manager of nine years, Kimberly Hines, told Deadline that the fundraiser was an act of desperation by her team. According to Hines, Mickey Rourke was being forced out of his home with nowhere to go. “My assistant started it to help Mickey as a nice gesture because he was being forced out of his home,” she explained, noting that the actor’s furniture was ruined by mold and rats in the rental. Rourke, meanwhile, blamed the situation on "scumbags from New York" who bought his building and refused to make repairs, leading him to withhold rent. “I’m very grateful for what I have. I got a roof over my head. I’ve got food to eat,” the actor concluded from his new temporary home at a local hotel.
