Reese Witherspoon Shares Insights on Raising Children in Hollywood

Reese Witherspoon revealed the challenges of balancing her Hollywood career with family life.

Reese took to Instagram to openly discuss raising her three children—Ava, 25, Deacon, 21, and Tennessee, 12—while continuing her thriving acting career. (Witherspoon shares Ava and Deacon with her first husband, Ryan Phillippe, and Tennessee with her second husband, Jim Toth.)
“Someone asked me what raising three kids and building a Hollywood career looked like…” she wrote in the caption of a throwback photo carousel.

“It looked like spending a lot of time in trailers together,” Reese Witherspoon added, sharing a snapshot of herself with Tennessee relaxing in an RV.
Sharing a car selfie with a younger Deacon and Ava, Reese wrote, “It looked like always being on the road together.”

In a more playful post, the Big Little Lies star shared a screenshot of a text exchange with Deacon. In it, he alerted her to a tech mishap, noting she had “butt-dialled an Instagram Live.”

She captioned the slide, “It looked like my kids constantly giving me career advice.”
Alongside the lighter moments of parenting while managing her career, Witherspoon also acknowledged the challenges.

“It looked really hard sometimes. I’d cry working 14 to 17 hours, sometimes all night long and still woke up early for carpool. I was deliriously tired,” she admitted.
She added, “It looked like trying to say something positive about work when I got home at night. So my kids would know that my work was meaningful to me and could be fun!”

Wrapping up the final slide, Reese Witherspoon reflected that despite the challenges, it was all worthwhile.

“In conclusion, even though it was challenging at times, having kids gave me perspective about what was important in life,” she wrote. “Nothing was better than getting to come home and hug them and hear about their day!”
