Jennifer Lopez dazzles in the new trailer for "Kiss of the Spider Woman".
She sings, dances, and shines across stage, screen, and the imagination of Molina (Tonatiuh), a window dresser imprisoned for public indecency. Her glamorous performances in vibrant costumes contrast sharply with the stark prison setting shared with cellmate Valentín (Diego Luna).
Directed and adapted for the screen by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, Beauty and the Beast), the film follows the unlikely bond between Molina and Valentín, framed by Molina’s retelling of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite diva, Ingrid Luna (Lopez). The movie is based on Manuel Puig’s acclaimed 1976 novel and the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical by Terrence McNally, John Kander, and Fred Ebb.
The original Broadway production earned seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical, awarded to Chita Rivera, who famously originated the title role.
Along with their starring roles, Luna and Lopez act as executive producers with Condon, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon.
Earlier this year at Sundance, the movie received a standing ovation that brought Jennifer Lopez to tears, with the star calling the role a “dream come true.”
