‘Welcome to Derry’ Season 2: Everything We Know About the Next Chapter of Pennywise

The terrifying saga of Derry, Maine, is far from over. Following the successful debut of the It prequel series, creators Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs are already looking toward the future. While Season 1 explored the 1962 Black Spot massacre, the team has confirmed a multi-season roadmap that dives deeper into the town's cursed history.

Renewal and Cast Expectations While HBO has not officially confirmed Season 2, the showrunners have designed the narrative as a three-season arc. Fans can almost certainly expect Bill Skarsgård to return as Pennywise, though the human cast will likely be entirely new to fit the shifting timeline.

The 1935 Setting: The Bradley Gang Season 2 is set to travel back to the Great Depression era. Andy Muschietti told TV Insider: “It’s not a secret that it is [set in] 1935, so it gravitates around the Bradley gang. In the story, it’s a gang of bank robbers in the age of the Great Depression, and they and they land on Derry because they have no other choice. And what seems to be just a quick stop becomes an infernal entanglement with the town and with It.”

The Mystery of Neibolt House Beyond the bank robbers, the new episodes will explore the architecture of horror. Muschietti explained: “Season 2 is in 1935, so we go back to the origins of Neibolt House: Who built it, and why? And why did it become an abandoned house? So that’s another one of the big mysteries that we’re going to unveil.”

Time Travel and Future Seasons The Season 1 finale introduced a shocking time-travel twist that could redefine the series. “When Marge says, ‘What if he’s actually able to travel to the past?’ Open question," Muschietti teased. "But then, this series is a show that’s told backwards. What does that mean? Does that mean that Pennywise can go back and alter the events that we know that happened? Hmmm.” If the series continues to a third season, it is expected to tackle the Kitchener Ironworks explosion.
